Johnathan Shields – My Story
I am an experienced educator and systems leader with a proven track record of delivering high-impact school development, improvement and growth.
Until my recent semi-retirement, I was the Head Teacher of one of the largest, successful primary schools in England. This was my third headship in my 28 year period as a Head Teacher.
In addition to headship, I have had over 25 years’ experience as an Ofsted Inspector and I was the Kent Branch Secretary for the NAHT for over 15 years.
Other Senior Leadership roles have included working for the Catholic Education Service as the National Assistant Director for all catholic schools in England and Wales and experience as a Local Authority Inspector/Advisor working across primary, secondary and the special educational needs sector. I have also provided extensive school support as a Local Leader of Education in Kent.
My additional experience involves acting in an advisory capacity as a qualified Performance Management Assessor, supporting Head Teachers and Governing Bodies.
I am currently working with the Catholic Schools Inspectorate, training to become a licensed member of the inspection team.

With my experience in recruitment and retention, I can help schools attract and retain high-caliber employees, enhancing overall success.
Lastly, as a Designated Safeguarding Lead, I prioritise the safety and well-being of students, providing reassurance to both authorities and parents.
