I am Jane Shields, an Accredited Dyslexia Specialist Teacher, Dyslexia Assessor, and experienced head teacher. With my expertise in education, accreditation as a Dyslexia Assessor and Specialist Teacher, and extensive experience in school leadership and improvement, I am here to make a difference.
Jane Shields – My Story
I am an experienced educator and school leader with a proven track record in effective school improvement.
Most recently, I have become accredited as an AMBDA Level 7 Dyslexia Assessor and Specialist Teacher (Dyslexia) for students up to the age of 16, and I also hold the National Award for SEN Co-ordination with experience in the field of Special Educational Needs.
I hold the National Professional Qualification in Executive Leadership (awarded December 2020). This leadership training enables me to support other school leaders in areas such as:
- Succession planning i.e. growing the next generation of successful school leaders
- Retaining and developing the best teachers who are excellent, collaborative role models for their schools and communities.
- Inspiring leaders who can harness the power of rich learning environments for their children and young people no matter the current circumstances.
Personal Leadership Experience 2015-2021: I served as the Head Teacher of a three-form entry Infant school with a sixty-place onsite Nursery. 2012-2015: I was the Head Teacher of a small primary school. 2009-2012: I held the position of Head of School in a two-form entry primary school with an onsite 60-place Nursery. 2003-2009: I worked as the Deputy Head Teacher in a three-form entry infant school with an onsite 60-place Nursery.
I am passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of students and creating inclusive learning environments. With my expertise as an Accredited Dyslexia Specialist Teacher and Assessor, I am dedicated to supporting students with dyslexia and other special educational needs. My leadership experience has equipped me with the skills to drive school improvement and inspire teachers to provide the best education for their students.
I am committed to continuous professional development and staying up-to-date with the latest educational practices. I believe in the power of collaboration and strive to create a supportive and nurturing culture within schools.

I have a wealth of qualifications and expertise as an educator and school leader. With a proven track record in effective school improvement, I am dedication to enhancing the learning experience for students.
